Minimax H3 Recast: New Leads Without a Reshoot

This tool does not build a video from nothing. It takes a clip you have already assembled and hands each role to a portrait you supply, so the only thing that differs is who appears on screen.

  • Recasting instead of regenerating
Feed the tool a clip that is already assembled plus one photo per role, and it exchanges the faces on screen rather than building a brand-new video from a text prompt.
  • Each face keeps its role
Arrange your photos to match how the people are positioned in the frame, and that pairing survives even when the footage cuts between different angles.
  • Your original performance carries over
Glances, timing, expressions, on-set lighting and the path of the camera all stay exactly as captured; the faces and garments are the only elements drawn from your uploads.

How to Use Minimax H3 Recast

Move from an existing edit to a completely different lineup of leads in three short steps.

Capabilities of Minimax H3 Recast

Everything that makes this recast tool useful comes down to one idea: only the people change, while the footage you shot stays exactly as it was.

Up to four roles in a single pass

Four photos is the ceiling, and every one of them claims a lead part in the sequence you set, holding that same identity through each shot they appear in.

Written instructions can reorder the cast

If the default left-to-right mapping is not what you need, a short text instruction tells the tool which face belongs to which role instead.

Acting untouched, faces replaced

No part of the performance is recreated: turns, beats, expressions, lighting and camera motion are inherited from your clip, while faces and garments arrive from your images.

Editing rhythm and audio preserved

Your cut points and the track underneath pass through unchanged, so what comes back is the same edit wearing different leads rather than a rebuild from zero.

Cheap preview, full-quality export

Run a quick low-resolution check to verify the pairing before committing to the full-resolution render, since cost scales with how long your clip runs.

Hair and clothing come from your photo

When an upload shows more than a head, the hairstyle and outfit travel with it — half-body framing transfers those details far more faithfully than a tight close-up.

FAQ

Minimax H3 Recast — FAQ

The details people ask about most before running a cast swap.

1

What is Minimax H3 Recast used for?

It is a substitution tool rather than a video generator. The photos you provide take the place of the people in your clip, while movement, framing, cuts and sound are all inherited from the source file.

2

Is there a length limit on my source clip?

Keep the total between 5 and 30 seconds and split any shot longer than 15 seconds before you upload. Whatever length you submit is the length you get back.

3

How many faces can I replace at once, and how are they matched?

Four at most, and each one needs its own photo. By default they are mapped to the leads in the order those people appear on screen, unless you override that with a text instruction.

4

Which reference photos give the best results?

One sharp, evenly lit portrait facing the camera per person works best. A half-body shot carries hair and clothing across more accurately than a tight crop; avoid hats, sunglasses, covered faces, group photos, heavy filters and blurry files.

5

Do I need the 768p pass at all?

Yes — that quick low-resolution run is the inexpensive way to spot a mismatched face before you pay for the 1080p version, and cost is tied to clip length either way.

6

When is this tool the wrong choice?

If the footage itself has to change — different action, different camera work, a different location — then this is not the right tool, because all of that comes from your source. Results also suffer with dense crowds, tiny or distant faces, rapid movement and objects crossing a face right after a cut, and across long takes or profile turns the likeness may drift back toward the original actor.
